The “Toufen Back Garden” is located in the northeastern part of Toufen City, characterized by its unique red-soil hilltop tea plantations. It's especially famous for growing Oriental Beauty Tea. Nearby, the Sanwan Back Garden “Shantangbei Hiking Trail” offers a moderate hiking route. The trail winds through forest paths lined with orchards and bamboo groves. The Lion’s Head Mountain Scenic Area spans both Hsinchu and Miaoli Counties, with the “Lion’s Head” located in Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli, and the “Lion’s Tail” in Emei Township, Hsinchu. These two points are connected by the Lion’s Head Mountain Historic Trail, a popular hiking route and one of Taiwan’s “Top 100 Minor Peaks.” Along the trail, you'll find 11 temples nestled in the mountains, with the harmony between natural beauty and ancient temples forming one of Lion’s Head Mountain’s most distinctive features.
Most hikers begin at Futian Temple or Chuanhua Hall, but there’s also an alternative route starting from the Old Trailhead. Though longer, this path offers glimpses of the past, winding through lush greenery and offering a peaceful, scenic experience along the historic trail.

Just a 50-meter walk from the Lion’s Head Mountain Archway, you'll find the entrance to the Longmenkou Trail, which leads to Chuanhua Hall, one of Lion’s Head Mountain’s most famous century-old temples. The temple is partially built into a natural cave, with its ornate exterior showcasing the beauty of traditional craftsmanship. From the platform at Chuanhua Hall, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the mountains, where ancient temples and scenic peaks create a breathtaking panorama. During the tung blossom season, the entire landscape is blanketed in white, resembling snowfall—a stunning sight that draws many visitors in pilgrimage.
